Physical Chemistry / Molecular Material Sciences
Our group is generally concerned with the physico-chemical characterisation of the properties of colloidal systems. They can be composed of surfactants, polymers, biomacromolecules, nanoparticles etc.. Especially the interaction of different components leads to interesting, complex properties and thereby opens the path to building hybrid materials. Our research then dwells on the structural characterisation of such systems (e. g. by scattering methods, microscopy, spectroscopy, calorimetry, etc.) for obtaining a systematic understanding of the properties and based on these insights having the option for producing materials with tailor-made properties.
