Bachelor / Master degrees replace Diploma degree
The School II - Mathematics and Natural Sciences - at TUB established the degree of Bachelor in Chemistry at the beginning of the winter semester 2008/2009. This degree can be earned after six semesters of study.
The degree of Bachelor in Chemical Engineering and a Master degree in Chemistry will be offered starting with the winter semester 2011/2012.
The degree of Bachelor in Chemical Engineering can be earned after six semesters of study, the Master degree in Chemistry after four additional semesters.
Starting from the winter semester 2015/16 the Master’s course in Biological Chemistry can be completed after four semesters of study. The study program is offered as a combined course between the TU Berlin’s Institute of Chemistry and Institute of Biotechnology.
A Diploma in Chemistry (Dipl.-Chem.) can no longer be earned once the Bachelor in Chemistry has been established; however, students that have already begun their studies before the Bachelor in Chemistry has been established can still earn a diploma degree.
The final examination for a Diploma degree in Chemistry is possible until summer semester 2020 (30. September 2020).
