The construction of
C-N-bonds is of great interest for both academic and industrial
research. There is still need for the development of new catalytic
systems as most of the well-known catalysts display drawbacks like air
and moisture sensitivity. We found that this reaction can be catalyzed
for both double and triple bonds by a new zinc complex which is
relatively insensitive and easily prepared. Polar functional groups
like ethers, amides, thioethers, hydrazides and hydroxyamines are
tolerated under the normal reaction conditions.
Presently we are investigating the synthesis of more active catalysts, with a view to explore their scope and limitations and finally their application to natural product synthesis.
